There Must Be Accountability for U.S. Drone Strikes

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, heralded as the leading authority for drone-strike casualty numbers by the recent report entitled Living Under Drones by Stanford and NYU researchers, reports 178 children have died in Yemen and Pakistan as a result of U.S. drone strikes. War Costs has produced a video and report on the topic.

Please consider joining us in our appeal to leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives to reintroduce H. Res. 819,  which calls for more accountability and transparency for U.S. Drone policy.

Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader Pelosi,

H. Res. 819 calls for the release of the legal justification of U.S. drone strikes that have killed civilians in targeted areas, as numerous reports have detailed.

Please reintroduce this bill to the House floor this month, as too much of U.S. government's drone policy is kept secret from Congress and the American people.

Obama, you cry for the children of Sandy Hook but what about the children of war and those who die at the hands of our drones flying around?

We are up in arms over Newtown killings; what about ours? I go to my confessional and I say, “Bless me father for I have sinned. I have done nothing to stop the killing of these innocent children overseas by my government’s attacks.”

Who are we to treasure our lives and trash everyone else? Who are we to have one man make an international kill list? What have we permitted to take place. I am ashamed of our arrogance, aggressiveness, and awaiting blow-back.

Gun control in the U.S. is audaciously close to fascism only if nothing is done about U.S. guns around the world. Why should we get to feel so safe while the rest of the world lives in the very same fear from which we claim a right to be free, a right we don’t intend to share? It is not up to the U.S.A. to deny the natural human right to freedom from being killed by other humans to any other society or population. Stop assault weapons, especially Predator Drones, worldwide!

The time for transparency and accountability is now. I demand an end to killing children (and other civilians) to ensure war continues, war contracts continue, compliant governments are supported and corporate profits flourish. I see the lies and they must end.

Why does our conutry care so much about the children killed in Coneticut but not these children in Pakistan and Yemen. Perhaps the mass shootings in the U.S. are in part happening because our country perpetrates this sort of violence on others. The real trickle down effect!

Any preemptive defense strategy which kills innocent people as a result is offensive and abominable.

20 dead in Newtown, 100’s dead in the Middle east.

    This is insane!

The USA is a failure as a peace loving nation.

What formula can justify the killing of innocents to eliminate a “terrorist” and what is the burden of proving the target is a legitimate danger to the USA?

Please end the ongoing wars using drones in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan and elsewhere, these wars are unconstitutional and are war crimes in my opinion, thank you

Stop killing children and civilians with drones and fighter planes or whatever other weapons, for whatever pretexts or “reasons”. The children of Pakistan, Yemen, Gaza, Africa, or America all have equal rights to life. The hands of US military and administration are soaked in children’s blood.

    Stop this murderous madness NOW!
