There Must Be Accountability for U.S. Drone Strikes

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, heralded as the leading authority for drone-strike casualty numbers by the recent report entitled Living Under Drones by Stanford and NYU researchers, reports 178 children have died in Yemen and Pakistan as a result of U.S. drone strikes. War Costs has produced a video and report on the topic.

Please consider joining us in our appeal to leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives to reintroduce H. Res. 819,  which calls for more accountability and transparency for U.S. Drone policy.

Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader Pelosi,

H. Res. 819 calls for the release of the legal justification of U.S. drone strikes that have killed civilians in targeted areas, as numerous reports have detailed.

Please reintroduce this bill to the House floor this month, as too much of U.S. government's drone policy is kept secret from Congress and the American people.

We are creating multiple generations of people that will hate us, and seek to do us harm. That’s not on them, that’s on us. We started the war under false pretenses, we invaded two countries that had nothing to do with 9/11, and now were killing people at weddings, killing children, and untold other innocents with drones. We are the terrorist to the people of Iraq & Afghanistan, and if they did the same to us we’d wipe them off the face of the planet. We are the schoolyard bullies X 1,000. All in the name of oil, and if you believe that it’s for any other reason, you’re deluding yourselves.

You can’t sanitize war. It’s dirty, it’s bloody and people die. American’s don’t die, but when drones are deployed civilians die. We kill innocents. It’s like any other bomb. As a nation, we need to reconsider using these robot killers. We would never deliberately kill children, but by using these things we do just that.

It is long past time to reevaluate this war, in terms of life, finances, and mostly morality. We as a nation are sanctioning the murder of children. This is unconscionable. I love my country, but I hate this war. Please. We need to stop this!

Thank you for your time and attention,
