There Must Be Accountability for U.S. Drone Strikes

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, heralded as the leading authority for drone-strike casualty numbers by the recent report entitled Living Under Drones by Stanford and NYU researchers, reports 178 children have died in Yemen and Pakistan as a result of U.S. drone strikes. War Costs has produced a video and report on the topic.

Please consider joining us in our appeal to leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives to reintroduce H. Res. 819,  which calls for more accountability and transparency for U.S. Drone policy.

Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader Pelosi,

H. Res. 819 calls for the release of the legal justification of U.S. drone strikes that have killed civilians in targeted areas, as numerous reports have detailed.

Please reintroduce this bill to the House floor this month, as too much of U.S. government's drone policy is kept secret from Congress and the American people.

When the US does things that are not talked about in the US Media it leads to hate. This hate can be used to create future terrorists. The way many see this (Not on Fox News) is that much of US policy creates terrorists. I do not want people from Pakistan to hate me. I think they should love America and the only way this will happen is if we treat Pakistani people as if they were American. Step one would be to stop killing the innocent with these irresponsible drone attacks.

When will we recognize we have killed far too many innocent people? Our humanity has been tarnished and we are creating more enemies. OUr policies need to be challenged and changed.

I urge you to do whatever possible to stop these drone strikes. Many innocent people are being killed and injured and it seems to me our dollars could be much better spent at home.

I shutter to think of children and families living in the terror that the ‘horrible noise in the sky’ could bring instant death and suffering…living in such fear is inhumane, to say the least…and, I am sure, creates the next round of terrorists and hatred of the United States. What a horrible legacy for our children and grand children. By the way, I am 71 years old, a former US Naval Officer who served in Viet Nam and still run my own business in Portland, Oregon. WE NEED A FULL REVIEW ON ALL THE EFFECTS OF THIS TRAGIC PROGRAM.

One set of rules for all criminal activity, please, whether committed by Rwanda, North Korea or the United States.
